Beating storied Sooners in Norman could elevate Bears’ program

Baylor has beaten Oklahoma in the last two meetings in Waco, but winning in Norman is a whole different quest.

The No. 10 Bears are 0-11 all-time on the No. 16 Sooners’ turf dating back to 1974.

The Baylor players know they can make history in Saturday’s 11 a.m. game and take a big step toward defending their Big 12 championship.

“It would mean a lot to this football team and the tradition of Baylor football, period,” Baylor cornerback Ryan Reid said. “Oklahoma is a big game and we’ll be ready to play, and I feel we’re going to do good. We haven’t beaten them at their home, but hey there’s always a first time for everything.”

During the Big 12 era, Oklahoma is 8-0 against Baylor in Norman including two wins in the Art Briles’ era. After cruising to a 33-7 win in 2009, the Sooners outlasted the Bears, 42-34, in a hotly contested game in 2012.
