Meyers expected to get more reps in the pass rush package, where defensive ends slide down to defensive tackle.
He realized it was his new home when the base defense was called and he was sent out as a three-technique.
“This isn’t the speed package,” Meyers said.
This is the new norm, where players swap positions and new formations are unveiled to coax more from the defense. The Cyclones will see how much the changes help when facing No. 7 Baylor on Saturday (7:20 p.m., Fox).
