Baylor’s Dave Aranda Under the Most Pressure Amongst Big 12 Head Coaches Per On3

NCAA Football: Baylor at Cincinnati

Entering his fifth season as head coach of the Baylor Bears, Dave Aranda needs to put together an impressive showing in 2024 or his job could be in jeopardy.

Through four seasons, Aranda has only put together one winning season, albeit it was a Big 12 Championship season, while sitting with an overall record of 23-25.

On3’s Jesse Simonton released his 2024 Big 12 Head Coach Pressure Rankings and Aranda came in at No. 1, since Baylor went 3-9 in 2023 marking its second-worst season since 2016.

Both sides of the ball struggled last season for the Bears with their offense ranking 13th in the conference in points per game (23.1), and their defense ranked last. Aranda is going to have to turn things around fast if he wants his job to be safe.

The program received commitment from Toledo transfer QB Dequan Finn, as Blake Shapen threw for only 2,188 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023.

Amongst all of the attention and hype around Colorado football, Deion Sanders was ranked second, and BYU’s Kalani Sitake followed him right at No. 3.

After a disappointing 3-9 season, Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield was placed fourth and TCU’s Sonny Dykes ranked fifth despite leading the team to the College Football Playoff in 2022.
