Former Arizona State WR Elijah Badger Lands with Florida

NCAA Football: Arizona State at Arizona

After playing three seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils, wide receiver Elijah Badger committed to the Florida Gators over the Arizona Wildcats on Friday.

Badger totaled 142 catches, 1,640 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in three seasons with the Sun Devils, making him one of the most intriguing prospects in the portal. There was a belief that Badger may stay in in the Big 12 and join Arizona, but that did not come to fruition.

Badger was ranked as a four-star prospect out of high school.

The Gators finished the 2023-24 season with a 5-7 record and did not become bowl eligible for the first time since 2017.

With quarterback Graham Mertz returning to play his sixth season of college football, head coach Billy Napier brings in a very talented player in Badger to the wide receiving room. Mertz had a productive season despite the team’s struggles, finishing with 2,903 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, while only throwing three interceptions.

The 6-foot-2 wide receiver had four games last season where he hauled in seven or more catches. His season-high came against Colorado on Oct. 7, 2023 where he had 12 catches and 134 receiving yards in the loss.

Wide receiver transfer Chimere Dike also joined Florida this offseason after playing four seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers.

Badger has one year of eligibility remaining.
