Five-Star Recruit Joson Sanon Flips From Arizona to Arizona State

Arizona State University head basketball coach Bobby Hurley is interviewed on TNT's pregame broadcast Men's before the NCAA national championship game at State Farm Stadium.

Following Caleb Love‘s decision to withdraw from the NBA Draft and return to Arizona, five-star recruit Joson Sanon decommitted from the Wildcats to sign with Arizona State, via his Instagram page.

247Sports ranked Sanon as the No. 22 overall prospect in the Class of 2024, while ASU ranks No. 3 nationally in this year’s recruiting class.

Sanon joins five-star big man Jayden Quaintance to a revamped roster under Head Coach Bobby Hurley.

The Sun Devils struggled last season, placing ninth in the Pac-12 with a record of 14-18. The program will be competing in the Big 12 Conference next season, along with Arizona, the school Sanon originally committed to.

Its biggest win of the season came against No. 21 Washington State on Feb. 24, where guard Jose Perez posted a team-high 16 points.

Hurley also added several players from the NCAA Transfer Portal including Brandon Gardner (USC), BJ Freeman (Milwaukee), Alston Mason (Missouri State), Basheer Jihad (Ball State), and Austin Nunez (Ole Miss).

ASU has only made the National Tournament once in the last five years, which came in 2022 when the team lost in the Round of 64. Prior to that, the last time the Sun Devils made it to the Big Dance was in 2019.
