Big 12 Source on USC, UCLA Move to Big Ten: ‘We’ve Got to Do Something’
The entire college football world is in turmoil right now after the news that USC and UCLA are almost certainly leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten Conference.
Teams and programs around the nation are scrambling to hold onto something as the once organized standard of regional sports conferences falls into shambles.
Around 12 months ago, the Big 12 was dealing with something of similar fashion as its two flagship programs decided to cut bait and leave for the SEC. Now, after adding four programs to bolster its membership to reflect its true namesake, the Big 12 might be in a position to make some expansion moves of its own.
Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger raised the question, “What does the Big 12 now?” and according to one of his Big 12 sources, the answer is simple, “We’ve got to do something.”
For the ACC, Pac-12, and Big 12, staying relevant, or even alive at this point, should be priority No. 1. Brett Yormark had better be taking calls from any and all schools from the Pac-12 right now, because if he doesn’t strengthen this conference further, it could become the target of SEC or Big Ten looking to bolster their rosters.
