With the Big 12 Conference continuing its run as the premier league in college basketball, it’s no secret that the conference is known for developing some of the best prospects in the NBA.

The 2024-25 season appears to be no different, as a recent first-round mock draft by On3’s James Fletcher III listed five conference members being selected in the 2025 NBA Draft.

The five Big 12 athletes featured are Baylor‘s VJ Edgecombe, BYU‘s Egor Demin, Arizona‘s Carter Bryant, Texas Tech‘s JT Toppin, and Arizona’s Motiejus Krivas. Edgecombe headlined the list at the No. 6 pick, followed by Demin at No. 8, Bryant at No. 22, Toppin at No. 27, and Krivas at No. 28.

Edgecombe, Demin, and Bryant will be making their college basketball debut in 2024-25, while Motiejus Krivas and JT Toppin are some of the nation’s fastest-rising sophomores. Last season at Arizona, the 7-foot-2 Krivas posted 5.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Toppin, a former member of the New Mexico Lobos, earned the title of Mountain West Freshman of the Year and posted a near double-double on average with 12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

While the college basketball season is still the better part of five months away, with five players listed in the way-too-early mock draft from On3 Sports, it goes without saying that Big 12 basketball, yet again, will be a sight for sore eyes.
