Baylor Lands Three-Star Quarterback Edward Griffin

Class of 2025 three-star quarterback Edward Griffin chose the Baylor Bears over UTEP, McNeese State, UTSA, Marshall, and North Texas, via his X.

The Coppell, Texas native led Coppell High School to a 12-1 record last season, while being named the Unanimous Overall District 6-6A MVP. He threw for 3,556 yards and 48 touchdowns, according to SicEm365.

Griffin is the seventh player in the Class of 2025 to commit to BU.

Head coach Dave Aranda has secured commitments from running back Caden Knighten, defensive lineman Christopher Johnson, quarterback Demetrius Brisbon, safety Colin Peacock, wide receiver Ashton Jones, and offensive tackle Kash Courtney, according to 247Sports.

The Bears struggled in the 2023 season, finishing 11th in the Big 12 with an overall record of 3-9, its least amount of wins in a season since 2020.

Its three wins came against Long Island, UCF, and Cincinnati. Despite the team’s rough season, quarterback Blake Shapen had a serviceable junior campaign totaling 2,188 yards, while also tossing 13 touchdowns with only three interceptions.

Heading into Aranda’s fifth year as the Baylor head coach, the Bears have only had one winning season back in 2021 where he led the team to a 12-2 record, which included a Big 12 Championship.
