Former BYU guard Jaxson Robinson transferred to Kentucky after previously entering the NBA Draft, while maintaining his college eligibility.
The Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year will reunite with head coach Mark Pope, who took the lead job at Kentucky after John Calipari left for Arkansas.
Robinson arrives to Lexington with one year left of eligibility, as he is the only player from last season’s BYU team to follow Pope.
Even though he came off the bench, Robinson led the Cougars in scoring with 14.2 points per game in just 26.5 minutes. He poured in a season-high 28 points in a win over the Denver Pioneers on Dec. 13, 2023.
The newest Wildcat played his first season with Texas A&M before transferring to Arkansas. After 10.2 minutes per game as a sophomore, he landed in Provo heading into his junior year.
In BYU’s first season playing in the Big 12 Conference, the team finished fifth in the league with a record of 23-11. The Cougars were rewarded with a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament before being upset in the first round with a loss to the Duquesne Dukes.
Despite the loss, Robinson finished with a game-high 25 points on college basketball’s biggest stage.
