The 2024 college football season is still a little ways off, but preview magazine and forecast season are about to hit their stride.

Four new teams will enter the fold in July, and there’s more excitement about the Big 12 race heading into this year than many of us can remember. Much of that has to do with the conference’s embarrassment of riches at the quarterback position.

With new faces like Shedeur Sanders, Cam Rising, and Noah Fifita joining names like Jalon Daniels and Avery Johnson, the Big 12 figures to have one of the most exciting arrays of offensive talent in the nation.

But it sounds like the talented signal callers that we will be watching on Saturdays could have a future ahead of them at the professional level and, perhaps, big futures.

According to Trevor Sikkema, four of the top 10 quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft Class will be playing in the Big 12 this fall, and one of those names might surprise you.

Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders has frequented NFL Draft lists all spring and is a name that shouldn’t really surprise anyone, considering the immense upside that he possesses.

When he’s been healthy, Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels has been one of the top players in college football. His injury history is a major concern, but if he’s able to stay on the field in 2024, his draft stock will rise, and so too will the chances that his team is playing for a Big 12 Championship in December.

The next Big 12 quarterback on the list is likely to surprise some folks, with Houston’s Donovan Smith ranked No. 9 on the list. Checking in at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, Smith has a huge frame and has shown some real athleticism in his game during his time with the Coogs and even back at Texas Tech.

The final Big 12 name to make the list is Arizona’s Noah Fifita, who is coming off a stellar redshirt freshman year with the Wildcats. He exhibits excellent pocket mobility and top-tier accuracy. As someone who’s studied him at length and seen him in person, Fifita has the arm talent to be a dude at the next level.
