ESPN’s Greg McElroy is one of the kings of offseason rankings lists, and on Saturday, McElroy dropped another rankings list for fans of the Big 12 to marvel at.

On the list, one team from the league checked in at No. 8 with one of college football’s best secondaries.

McElroy believes Brent Brennan and the Arizona Wildcats have the best secondary in the Big 12 and the eighth-best unit in the country.

“They bring back four of their five starters from a year ago, including Tacario Davis,” McElroy said. “You also have Treydan Stukes back at corner. You also have Gunner Maldonado who’s back at safety. These guys both played at a high level of times last year as well. So, Arizona comes in at No. 8.”

Of the three players mentioned by Greg McElroy, the trio posted a total of 159 tackles, 23 pass breakups, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recovers. Junior safety Gunnar Maldonado finished third on the team in tackles and first in forced fumbles and interceptions, while Tacario Davis and Treydan Stukes finished first and second in PDs.

If the Wildcats can continue their dominance on the defensive side of the ball, Brent Brennan may have a squad destined for a date in Arlington in his first season with the program and in the Big 12.
