From the moment that Deion Sanders’ plane touched down in Boulder, Colorado, anything and everything that the Buffaloes’ football program says or does is placed under a microscope.
It’s a blessing and a curse for CU football, as any storyline that comes out of Folsom Field is almost certain to catch fire. That’s great when it comes to getting butts in seats on Saturdays, but it also opens the Buffs up to a level of scrutiny that almost no other program in the country will deal with on a regular basis.
It also ensures that any slip-up or misstep from the folks at Colorado is going to be pointed out almost instantly, and that was the case with a social media post on Tuesday that has social media in a blaze.
Quick video shots at practice are commonplace from programs around the country as teams progress through fall camp in preparation for the 2024 season, and the Buffaloes are no exception to that. However, the Colorado social media team might’ve messed up with one of their latest videos.
In a post that reads, “Darts only,” Shedeur Sanders appears to throw a “dart” for a touchdown. But after taking a second look at the video, the vast majority of people say that Colorado definitely edited an incomplete pass from Sanders to make it look like a touchdown.
Take a look.
What do you think?
I’ve got to say, it’s pretty clear to me that these are two totally different plays, but I wasn’t there, so confirming it is pretty much impossible. With 3.1 million views and counting, the argument is pretty one-sided on Twitter, though.
My biggest question is, why?
There had to be other throws that would’ve been usable for a video like this, so why did they decide to go with that throw?
It does look like Sanders is getting better at manipulating the pocket after taking a FBS-high 52 sacks last season, so there’s at least one positive to take from it. Otherwise, it appears Colorado got caught goofin’ on this one.
Update: It looks like someone has found an alternate angle of this play and it turns out it was just an awful edit job.
