Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell called out three Power Five programs for offering star wide receiver Tory Horton a large amount of money to leave CSU.
Those schools included Kansas State, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss, while the Wildcats supposedly offered him $600,000 to transfer.
A player of his caliber definitely has the ability to play at a bigger school with more NIL opportunities, but Horton has chosen to stay.
The former three-star recruit hauled in 96 catches in 2023, as well as 1,136 yards and eight touchdowns. Horton averaged 11.8 yards per catch and will look to help the team reach its first bowl game appearance since 2017.
If these accusations from Horton’s head coach are true, then these schools are tampering.
His best game of the season came in a win over Utah Tech, when the star offensive weapon went off for 227 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Horton eclipsed over 100 receiving yards in four games last season, even though CSU struggled, finishing 5-7.
The team has a serious test in the opening week of the 2024 season, as the Rams will be playing against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Aug 31 at 3:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
