Kansas State and Cincinnati Still on the Bubble of Joe Lunardi’s Latest Bracketology

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Cincinnati

Kansas State and Cincinnati both managed to pull of upsets on Wednesday in the Big 12 Tournament, giving them both Quad 1 wins and pushing them both back onto the bubble.

The victories also advanced them to Thursday’s action, giving them chances to potentially win their way into the tournament with matchups against No. 2-seed Iowa State and No. 3-seed Baylor.

Instead of chaos and drama, we got chalk on Thursday night, as Iowa State handled Kansas State and Baylor took care of business against Cincinnati.

The losses significantly hurt either team’s shot of making the cut on Sunday, but all hope is not lost. With several teams in action around them, there’s a chance that some bubble magic could work in their favor.

In Joe Lunardi’s Friday morning update, both the Wildcats and Bearcats are still on the bubble, with K-State in the “Next Four Out” and Cincinnati the first team outside the “Next Four.”

According to Lunardi, 11 of the 20 teams on the bubble are in action on Friday, meaning there could be plenty of movement between now and Sunday.

It seems Kansas State is in a better position to make the tournament than Cincinnati is as the moment, but both teams have incredibly difficult conference schedules and a plethora of Quad 1 games on their respective resumes.

That alone could see them push through to the Tournament, but only time will tell.
