Oklahoma Falls to Last Four In in Latest Bracketology
Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners have been listed in the NCAA Tournament field for the majority of the 2023-24 season by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, and despite their consistent placement, the team has dropped to the Last Four In category.
Oklahoma was listed on the bubble in the Last Four In category in Lunardi’s latest bracketology update alongside St. John’s, Virginia, and New Mexico.
Oklahoma had a tough end to the 2023-24 regular season as the team’s 77-70 loss in the second round of the Big 12 Basketball Tournament became Oklahoma’s sixth loss in their last eight conference matchups. The Sooners won three games in February, winning over No. 20 BYU and Oklahoma State.
With Selection Sunday just one day away, the Sooners enter decision day in ninth place in the Big 12 Conference with an 8-10 conference record and a conference record of 8-10, the same record as Kansas State, who is also fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament field.
The Sooners added four Quad 1 wins this season with victories over No. 7 Iowa State, No. 20 BYU, and two wins over the Cincinnati Bearcats, another bubble team in Lunardi’s latest update. While it’s tough to say how many teams from the Big 12 Conference will make the big dance, Oklahoma appears to be in the best position of any Big 12 bubble team to earn a tournament bid come Sunday.
