Kansas State Remains in Next Four Out in Latest Bracketology

NCAA Basketball: Iowa State at Kansas State

Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats are heading into Selection Sunday, needing help from the tournament committee to earn a bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

In his latest bracketology update, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi listed the Wildcats in the Next Four Out category alongside Wake Forest, Oregon, and NC State.

The Wildcats earned yet another Quad 1 win in the second round of the Big 12 Basketball Tournament on Wednesday against Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns, which prompted head coach Jerome Tang to give a convincing speech about why the Wildcats should be an NCAA Tournament team.

“We have five Quad 1 wins, all five against the top-30 in the NET,” Tang said. “We have six wins against the Top 40 in the net. The opponents that we played against in the non-conference and the conference combined have the ninth-best defense in the country and the 35th-best offense in the country. So, we didn’t play a Powder Puff schedule. We have the number one strength of schedule of all of the bubble teams right now.”

The Wildcats are currently listed as the fifth team out of the tournament field. Still, with the Big 12 Conference providing resume opportunities unlike any other league in college basketball, the Wildcats could become the tenth Big 12 team to make the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
