Brett Yormark 2024: Make America Open For Business

Syndication: Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

I typically don’t like to get political, but with President Joe Biden’s dropping out of the 2024 presidential race, I thought now would be a good time to mention a new candidate. He’s a businessman from New Jersey who graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business.

He’s the commissioner of America’s conference, which, of course, is the Big 12. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you Brett Yormark. Now I know what you are probably thinking, “Brett Yormark? A conference commissioner?”

Let me explain.

When he took over the Big 12 in late 2022, it looked a lot different than it does today. While UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, and BYU were already on their way in, along with Texas and Oklahoma headed out, the conference didn’t have a new TV deal just yet.

Within a few weeks on the job, Yormark got a new TV deal for the conference (one that was much higher than expected) and even beat the Pac-12 to the punch. This came just a few months after then Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff said “With respect to the Big 12 being open for business, I appreciate that. We haven’t decided if we’re going shopping there or not yet.”

Not even a year after getting the conference a new media rights deal, Yormark came through clutch once again. When the Pac-12 crumbled, who was there to pick up the pieces? That would be none other than Brett Yormark. He was able to bring in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State to the Big 12. This move helped solidify the conference even more and established themselves as a power conference.

The best part of all this is that he may not even be done just yet. With news of the ACC starting to have some cracks in its foundation, could Brett Yormark pull another ace out of his sleeve and bring in a few more schools? It’s very possible.

Brett’s negotiation skills, creativity, and ability to think outside the box make him one hell of a businessman. When your back is against the wall, I wouldn’t want anyone in all of college football besides Brett Yormark. Every time the man opens his mouth and says something, I believe it. Why? Because he has delivered every single time unlike other politicians.

No matter if you are a Democrat, Republican, or anything in between, I think if there is one man who can bring this country together and make it stronger, it would be Brett Yormark. America, get ready to be open for business.
