Pittsburgh EDGE Dayon Hayes Transfers to Colorado

Oct 7, 2023; Tempe, Arizona, USA; Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders walks the sidelines as his team takes on the ASU Sun Devils at Mountain America Stadium.

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024 season with the addition of Pittsburgh edge Dayon Hayes through the transfer portal.

Hayes became a hot commodity in the transfer portal after an impressive season at Pittsburgh in 2023.

Hayes posted 45 total tackles, four sacks, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in his senior season at Pitt. He will now head to Boulder to team up with head coach Deion Sanders in Colorado’s return to the Big 12 Conference.

Coming out of Westinghouse High School in the Class of 2020, Hayes was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 183rd-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the eighth-ranked player at his position and the third-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania.

With his commitment, Hayes became the Buffaloes’ first addition through the spring transfer portal window. With Colorado losing a number of talented prospects on the defensive side of the ball to the transfer portal, the addition of Dayon Hayes should go a long way toward restructuring Coach Prime’s defense.
