One Big 12 School May Be in Running for Cormani McClain

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Baylor

After electing to enter the transfer portal on April 16th, former Colorado defensive back Cormani McClain became one of the biggest names to hit the portal in the spring window.

McClain recently revealed which teams have contacted him since entering the portal, a total of 11 teams. One Big 12 school appears to be in the running for McClain.

According to a report from On3’s Hayes Fawcett, the UCF Knights were among the teams to contact the Florida native, alongside LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Auburn, Texas A&M, USC, USF, Georgia, UCLA, and Oregon.

McClain’s former coach, Deion Sanders, spoke on Cormani’s decision to enter the portal with DNVR Sports, saying, “I’m always in prayer for young men, and I want the best for them. I pray to God that he goes to a program that challenges him as well as holds him accountable and develops him as a young man. Unfortunately, we weren’t the program that could accomplish that. So prayerfully, he understands that this is his second go-around and gets it. Go get it, man. Because he has a tremendous amount of talent, but he has to want it.”

While UCF has a shot to land one of the top players available in the transfer portal this spring, Gus Malzahn’s group would have to beat out some incredible programs for his services. However, in the era of the transfer portal, stranger things have happened.
