Colorado’s Former Five-Star Prospect DB Cormani McClain Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Arizona at Colorado

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are losing a massive name on their roster, with freshman cornerback Cormani McClain electing to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday.

McClain was listed as the top-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2023 and will now depart the program after spending one season in Boulder.

As a freshman in 2023, McClain recorded 13 total tackles and two pass breakups.

Coming out of Lakeland High School in the Class of 2023, McClain was listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 13th-ranked player. He also checked in as the top-ranked player at his position and the third-ranked player in the state of Florida.

McClain will hit the portal with three years of eligibility remaining after suiting up as a true freshman in 2023.

One of the nation’s best prospects in the Class of 2023, McClain compiled an impressive list of offers. The Florida native chose the Buffaloes over offers from 25 different programs, including Alabama, BYU, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, UCF, West Virginia, and more.

With his decision to enter the portal, McClain becomes the top available player this spring. Deion Sanders and company will now have a new hole to fill ahead of the 2024 season, but with the spring transfer portal open until April 30th, Coach Prime should have some options available for replacement.
