While the spring transfer portal is a time of stress and anxiety for most teams around the country, for Chris Klieman and Kansas State, the period allowed the team to add a talented playmaker to its roster.

Former Colorado running back Dylan Edwards announced his decision to transfer to Kansas State on Sunday, which added even more firepower to an already impressive offense.

Edwards discussed the process of becoming a Wildcat with Kansas State’s D. Scott Fritchen and provided some glowing remarks, including superhero comparisons for the Big 12’s newest dynamic duo.

“Me and Avery on the same team, that’s like Batman and Robin, you know?” Edwards said.

He then mentioned the joy that came with signing to play at Kansas State, saying, “I just bawled my eyes out because I was full of joy that this was really happening.”

Coming out of Derby (Kan.), Edwards was the No. 100 overall recruit and the No. 3 running back in the Class of 2023, according to Rivals. He was also ranked as the top player in the state of Kansas. In his freshman season with the Buffaloes, Edwards totaled 520 yards and five touchdowns as a true freshman last season.

While Robin may have taken the usual path to reunite with Batman in this case, Kansas State now has the benefit of yet another explosive playmaker in the backfield. The team now has one of the best running back rooms in the Big 12 Conference, with Edwards pairing up with junior running back DJ Giddens, who finished his sophomore season as the league’s fourth-leading rusher.

Edwards, Johnson, Giddens, and the Wildcats will play for the first time on Saturday, August 31st, against the UT Martin Skyhawks.
