Oklahoma and Florida were scheduled to start the Women’s College World Series semifinal round at 11:00 a.m. CT, but thanks to inclement weather in the Oklahoma City area, the game was pushed back to a 2:06 p.m. CT start.
The three-hour delay obviously shortened the window for games to be played on Monday as scheduled, and with the potential for a pair of if-necessary games, an adjustment to the Monday slate was made.
The NCAA Softball social media team made an announcement just ahead of the first game of the day, bringing light to the situation should the if-necessary games come into play.
“Due to the extended weather delay today, there has been an adjustment to the Women’s College World Series schedule,” the update reads. “In the event Game 12 is necessary, that game will be played tomorrow to make sure that we’re able to get Game 13 in today, which remains scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. In the event that Game 12 is played tomorrow, Game 14 would also be played tomorrow, if necessary.
“If Game 12 is not necessary, then we will continue to try to play Game 13 and if necessary, Game 14, as scheduled today.”
So, should Oklahoma lose to Florida in Game 11, the Sooners and Gators would play again tomorrow. If that happens, and Texas also loses to Stanford, the Longhorns and Cardinal would play tomorrow as well.
However, if Oklahoma can take care of business against UF on Monday afternoon and Texas is unable to put Stanford away, the Longhorns and Cardinal will try to play their if-necessary game on Monday night, with an expected start time at around 8:30 p.m. CT.
