Look: Texas’ Xavier Worthy Sets 40-Yard Dash NFL Combine Record

NCAA Football: Kansas at Texas

There is a new record holder in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Texas Longhorns wide receiver set the record with a 4.21-second 40-time.

This breaks the record of 4.22 seconds set by John Ross in 2017.

Here’s a look at Worthy’s run.

“I just broke the record. It still doesn’t feel real,” Worthy said. “Man, just a blessing to be able to do this in front of all these fans, with all these peers I’m with.”

The Fresno, California, native ran a 4.25 on his first attempt. Worthy started 39 games in his three seasons and finished fourth all time in receiving yards (2,755). Worthy finished with 1,014 yards receiving this past season with five touchdowns. Also of note, his career punt return average (14.5) is second-best all time as is his single-season 16.9 yards per return in 2023.

Worthy is a projected first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and may have moved himself up a few slots after his record-setting performance.
