Patrick Mahomes Gets Historic Deal in Contract Restructuring
Former Texas Tech quarterback turned face of the NFL, Patrick Mahomes, has officially agreed to a restructured agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs, giving him $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026.
Mahomes made history back in 2020 by agreeing to a 10-year, $450 million deal as the signal caller for Andy Reid’s offense, and while the $210.6 million is fully guaranteed compensation, Kansas City expects to revisit the deal again after the 2026 season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Since being selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Patrick Mahomes has become the poster child for the National Football League winning two Super Bowls and two league MVPs in his first six seasons.
Mahomes enters Week 3 of the NFL season with 82 games played in his career with 2035 completions for 24,772 passing yards with 196 touchdowns through the air and 51 interceptions. The Texas native also has added an impressive 312 carries for 1,622 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns in his career.
While the Kansas City Chiefs have been flirting with the rank of a dynasty in the National Football League since Mahomes stepped on the field as a starter in 2018, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has put on an absolute masterclass of balancing the salary cap and putting together some of the best rosters in professional football.
Mahomes and the Chiefs take on Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears in Week 3 at 3:25 PM CT on Sunday the 24th with a chance to advance to 2-1 on the table.
