Jordy Bahl Calls Out Megan Rapinoe Over God Comments

Religion has long been a divisive topic of conversation in almost every corner of the world, and its no different in the scope of American sports.

The debate on whether there is a higher power out there has been around for centuries, and both sides of the argument are convinced that the facts are there to present their case.

As a proud believer that a man named Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, and died a most unimaginable death to rise three days later, I am quite convinced that I know where I’m headed when I am eventually called home.

However, American soccer star Megan Rapinoe is quite sure that the opposite is true after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in the final match of her career.

“I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a god, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” she said, per Daily Mail. “This is f—– up. It’s just f—– up. Six minutes in and I eat my Achilles.”

Ironically, Rapinoe also “Thanked God” for her deep sense of humor given the difficulty of her situation, but the point she was trying to make was clear: This is an incredibly tough way for her career to come to an end.

Former Oklahoma softball star and now Nebraska ace Jordy Bahl used her platform on Twitter to set the records straight, in her mind, and stand for her beliefs on what Rapinoe had to say.

“Sad,” Bahl wrote. “God gets the glory on the good and bad days. His promises and plans are always better than our human comprehension. We could have nothing on this earth, but if we have Christ we are fully satisfied. He’s already given the greatest blessing we could ever have.”

The two-time national champion and 2023 WCWS most outstanding player has always been outspoken about her faith, and it appears that hasn’t changed at all in the last few months.

Heading into her junior year, Bahl will try and elevate Nebraska’s softball program to the level of her former school, as Oklahoma enters the 2024 season as the favorite to win another national championship after taking home each of the last three titles, including the 2023 WCWS run that ended the Sooners’ season on a 53-game winning streak (still active) and a 61-1 overall record.
