Oklahoma Adds Utah Transfer CB Jocelyn Malaska
Oklahoma has landed a former in-state three-star prospect as Utah transfer cornerback Jocelyn Malaska has committed to the Sooners out of the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Malaska was a three-star cornerback out of Bethany (Okla.) in the class of 2021 and is listed at 6-foot-1, 178 pounds ahead of his addition to the roster in Norman.
It’s worth noting that Malaska will be a preferred walk-on at Oklahoma after being on scholarship with the Utes, but in the world of NIL, there’s a good chance that he’s receiving some sort of incentive to come to Norman.
Malaska held offers from Texas Tech, Kansas, SMU, and Utah among others out of high school, but will now be on roster with Oklahoma, who didn’t offer him a scholarship despite an impressive performance at a team camp there in 2021.
Brent Venables and the Sooners continue to bolster their roster in preparation for their jump to the SEC in 2024.
The Sooners are coming off a 10-3 campaign in 2023, which was capped by a 38-24 loss to the Arizona Wildcats in the Valero Alamo Bowl last week.
With plenty of talent and youth on the roster, the future in Norman looks bright but there won’t be a lot of time for them to grow up, as a truly brutal SEC slate awaits them in 2024, with Tennessee, Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama, and LSU all on the docket.
