Look: Oklahoma, Texas Signees Argue Outcomes in First SEC Season
Both Oklahoma and Texas saw their seasons come to an end with losses over the last few days, meaning it is full steam ahead for their inaugural year in the Southeastern Conference in 2024.
The Sooners saw their season come to an end with a 38-24 loss to Arizona in the Alamo Bowl on Thursday, while the Longhorns dropped a 37-31 heartbreaker in the College Football Playoff semifinals to Washington on Monday night.
Still, there’s plenty for each program to be excited about heading into the 2024 season, and the newest members of each program can’t wait for the season to get here.
At the Under Armour All-American Bowl this week, members from both signing classes are showcasing their talents to the rest of the college football world.
On Tuesday, a group of Texas and Oklahoma signees were asked how they thought their respective first seasons in the SEC would go, each drawing predictable responses from their future rivals.
It’s clear that both groups feel very good about their first year in a new conference, but the reality of the situation is, that it’s highly unlikely that either squad gets through the 2024 season unscathed.
The players in the video are (from left to right): four-star CB Kobe Black (Texas), five-star S Xavier Filsaime, three-star CB Jordon Johnson-Rubell (Texas), five-star DL David Stone (OU), three-star OL Daniel Akinkunmi (OU), and four-star TE Davon Mitchell (OU).
Seeing them talk smack and go back and forth is a surreal moment, as six of the nation’s best players at their respective positions will eventually be repping opposite sides of the Red River Rivalry in a matter of months, which is pretty cool.
The Under Armour All-American Game is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. CT.
