Texas Favored to Land Washington Transfer CB Jabbar Muhammad
Texas is hitting the transfer portal as hard as anyone after the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance.
The Longhorns came up just short of a National Championship berth, falling 37-31 to the Washington Huskies after failing to punch it in from the 13-yard line on 4th down.
Things have changed dramatically since that night though, as Washington’s program has been gutted in the wake of Kalen DeBoer’s exit to take the Alabama job.
Despite convincing Jedd Fisch to leave Arizona to take over the program in Seattle, several of the Huskies’ top players are entering the transfer portal to weigh their options elsewhere.
One of those players, Jabbar Muhammad, could be headed to the last team that Washington defeated in the 2023 season.
On3’s Gerry Hamilton recently entered a prediction for Texas to land the four-star transfer, who will have just one year of eligibility remaining ahead of the 2024 season.
No announcement has been made to this point though, as the final three teams thought to be in contention for his services are Texas, Alabama, and Oregon.
originally a member of the 2020 class, Muhammad spent the first three seasons of his career at Oklahoma State, immediately becoming a contributor for the Pokes’ defense under Mike Gundy. Then, following the 2022 season, he hit the transfer portal and became one of the Huskies’ biggest playmakers.
Listed at 5-foot-10, 183 pounds, Muhammed finished the season with 46 total tackles, three picks, two sacks, and one fumble recovery in 2023.
