Oklahoma Lands Dayton Transfer G Kobe Elvis
After swinging and missing on several transfer portal targets this cycle, Porter Moser finally earned a commitment from transfer guard Kobe Elvis.
Elvis, a 6-foot-2 guard from Dayton, averaged just shy of 10 points per game this season while adding 3.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds as a junior for the Flyers last season.
The Sooners have hosted several big-time transfer targets, including Brandon Garrison and Sean Pedulla, but hasn’t been able to coax anyone into pulling the trigger on a commitment until today.
Over a three year stint with the Flyers, Elvis appeared in 86 games, making 80 starts, and averaged 9.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.2 rebounds. This last season, he started 33 games and averaged north of 28 minutes per game.
Oklahoma is in desperate need of some help from the transfer portal in this cycle if they hope to get back to the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25.
The Sooners were the first team out of this year’s tournament and have lost four major contributors from a 20-win team, three of which left via the transfer portal.
Bring Elvis aboard at least gives them some life, but OU will need to close out this cycle strong if they hope to make any kind of noise in the SEC. Garrison and Pedulla are still possibilities, though longshots at this point, and Aaron Scott is another name that they’re feeling good about for now.
That aside, adding someone with 80 starts at Dayton over three seasons is a much better spot than Moser’s group was in 48 hours ago, and that is progress.
