Texas Lands 2025 Four-Star Running Back James Simon

NCAA Football: Texas at West Virginia

Four-star running back James Simon committed to the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday over Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M, as reported by Hayes Fawcett.

247Sports ranked Simon as the No. 13 running back and No. 200 overall prospect, giving Texas the No. 13 ranked recruiting class for the Class of 2025.

In the 2023 season, the four-star commit finished with 1,600 total yards, as well as 21 rushing touchdowns.

Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian strengthened his back field with Simon, alongside fellow Class of 2025 commit Rickey Stewart, who was also listed as a four-star commit.

Texas just came off its last season competing in the Big 12 Conference, as the program will be transitioning to the SEC next season. The team finished last season 12-2, placing No. 3 in the country on the final AP Top 25 Poll.

A loss to Washington ended UT’s season after winning the Big 12 Title. With Quinn Ewers set to return as the starting quarterback in 2024, the team will be looking to get back to the College Football Playoff.

The season opener comes against Colorado State on Aug. 31, before facing its first SEC opponent in the Michigan Wolverines on Sep. 7.
