Jimbo Fisher Fired by Texas A&M as Football Coach

NCAA Football: Texas A&M at Clemson

The Texas A&M Aggies have undoubtedly underachieved under Jimbo Fisher’s leadership. Fisher was paid enormous money to turn around the program, but he had not come close to meeting expectations.

And on Sunday morning, Texas A&M let the head coach go with a statement from AD Ross Bjork, saying, “After very careful analysis of all the components related to Texas A&M football, I recommended to President Welsh and then Chancellor Sharp that a change in the leadership of the program was necessary in order for Aggie football to reach our full potential and they accepted my decision. We appreciate Coach Fisher’s time here at Texas A&M and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

TexAgs was the first to report the news on Sunday morning.

The Aggies are 6-4 on the season after crushing Mississippi State 51-10 on Saturday. However, for a team that was, once again, ranked in the Top 25 before the season, the Aggies have disappointed.

Jimbo Fisher finishes with a career record of 45-25 at Texas A&M, worse than his predecessor Kevin Sumlin, who finished 51-26 before being fired.

A&M plays ACU this weekend before traveling to face LSU in their final game of the regular season. The Aggies do have a Top 10 recruiting class coming in during the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports.
