It didn’t take long for Oklahoma to pick up its first commitment as an official member of the Southeastern Conference, and this one comes from the heart of SEC country, too.
Four-star wideout Cortez Mills announced his pledge to the Sooners on Monday afternoon, mere hours after the program—along with Texas—became the newest members of the SEC.
Listed at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Mills is a product of Homestead (FL) and ranks as one of the top wide receivers in the entire country.
According to 247Sports’ Composite rankings, Mills is the country’s No. 88 overall prospect and the No. 12 player at his position. He held offers from nearly 40 programs but ultimately chose the Sooners over four other finalists: LSU, Clemson, Florida, and Nebraska.
Oklahoma wide receivers coach Emmett Jones has quickly become one of the best recruiters in the country, regardless of position, and already has a room that just might be the best in the country entering 2024.
With him on the trail, the Sooners have built a continuous stream of top-tier talent at the wideout position, and the addition of Mills is just the latest example of just that.
With Mills’ commitment, the Sooners 2025 class has now grown to 20 players and now ranks as the No. 4 class in the nation, according to Rivals.
