Look: Tulsa Softball Upsets No. 6 Oklahoma State, 3-0
Tulsa hosted No. 6 Oklahoma State in what was expected to be an uneventful midweek game for the Big 12 powerhouse. The Pokes are getting set for a trip to Provo (Utah) after sweeping UCF in a three-game series this past weekend.
However, the Cowgirls’ trip to T-Town was anything but uneventful, as they found themselves in a dogfight against the Golden Hurricane.
TU pitcher Maura Moore pitched a full 7.0 IP in this one, allowing just four hits, four strikeouts, and three walks while facing 27 batters. She held the Pokes’ offense in check with nine flyouts and seven groundouts, including a groundout from Lexi McDonald in the seventh, to secure the 3-0 victory.
The Golden Hurricane scored their first run in the fourth after Imani Edwards got on with a triple and was brought in on a Claira Skaggs double, making it 1-0.
Then, in the sixth, TU was able to pick up two insurance runs on a fielding error from Oklahoma State third baseman Tallen Edwards, making the final score 3-0.
The loss moves Oklahoma State to 24-4 overall, while Tulsa moves to 19-8 on the season.
Oklahoma State will hope to get back on track as they take on BYU in a three-game series this weekend, with the first game starting on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. CT.
