Will Texas be the top contender in the NCAA College Football 2024–2025 season?

Texas Longhorns flag horns up, limes in

It’s not a secret that college football is absolutely huge in the USA. This is where some of the biggest NFL stars have made their name and shown their talent in the hopes of earning them a draft spot on one of the senior first teams and then making their mark in history. All of the top universities and colleges in the UK are represented in this league. The NCAA itself is an organisation that oversees the league for all of the top colleges in the country.

The NCAA stands for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. It’s a non-profit organisation that annually helps over 500,000 young up-and-coming athletes participate in sport. The NCAA also oversees other sports as well as American football. In fact, college football has gotten to such a level that it is now popular for people to bet with crypto as crypto becomes more mainstream.

Title challengers

It is present in every state in the United States and is headquartered in Indianapolis. In the top league, every state is represented by a team. Texas has the Texas Longhorns, whose ranking was 2 in the previous season. And so it’s no surprise that today we are looking at whether they are going to be top contenders again for this up-and-coming season. In recent years, their form has dipped but last year they proved that they are back and ready to challenge, as they reached the CFP for the first time and narrowly lost to Washington in a 37-31 breathtaking and entertaining semifinal. However, there is a higher level of competition than ever before in the SEC and so the Longhorns are going to have to prove they’ve got what it takes to compete again.

Start of the season

They kick off their season on August 31, 2024, against the Colorado State Rams at the DKR Texas Memorial Stadium at 8:30 p.m. in Austin, Texas. This will be the first challenge for the Longhorns as they look to make a statement about their intention to win right from the off. However, this is only the second time that I have played against the Rams. The previous time was, in fact, back in 1975, when they won 46-0 pretty decisively. However, of course, nearly 50 years have elapsed since then so it’s far from a given that this face-off is going to be a walk in the park like the previous meeting for the Longhorns.

Linked with James Simon

The Longhorns have also proved that they are an attractive team to play on, as it was recently announced that they are in the running for four-start running back James Simon. At the end of this month, he will announce his commitment day on May 29th. And there are a few clubs that are rumoured to be in the mix to sign him. With the Longhorns being well in the mixture of clubs that are being speculated on to be his next destination, The Longhorns themselves have been in fine form recently when it comes to producing top talent running backs, so it’s no wonder that he is considering making the Longhorns his next destination.

In Summary

So much so that all five crystal ball predictions are pointing towards him joining the Longhorns but this remains to be confirmed and so when the 29th of May rolls around, it’s going to be exciting to see where his commitment lies. And it’s also going to be exciting when the season starts in August 2024 to see how the Longhorns fare this season. Although it cannot be denied that if they have Simon on their roster, they will most certainly be well encouraged to challenge and have a lot more strength and depth in their squad.
