Lastly, our picks went 3-2 last week and are 8-2 this season… so let’s keep it rolling!

Texas vs. TCU

The Horned Frogs always play well against Texas. They’re 6-2 against Texas since joining the Big 12 in 2012 and 3-1 in Austin. Gary Patterson gets his guys juiced up for the Longhorns. And the biggest woe for TCU is its offensive line, but Texas hasn’t been able to effectively get to the QB in two years, so why would it suddenly start now. Oh and this week Tom Herman arguably insulted Gary Patterson. This is going to be a great game to kick off the day for the Big 12, and I’m calling TCU to pull off the upset… or at the very least cover.

The Pick: TCU +13

West Virginia vs. Baylor

The Bears add three veteran offensive linemen back to the line up this week, which should help in a big way since WVU’s defensive front is the strongest part of the team. Baylor’s defense looked stout last week (yes against KU), but while it should be a low-scoring game, the typical home field advantage in Morgantown won’t be a factor with no fans at the game. I like Baylor’s veteran offense scoring enough to win this game relatively comfortably.

The Pick: Baylor -2.5

Kansas vs. Oklahoma State

One might be tempted to take KU at home against the Cowboys who are likely to go another week with true freshman Shane Illingworth at quarterback. I can’t do that. Kansas is really, really bad this season. And Illingworth came in against Tulsa unexpectedly, then played against a solid WVU defense this week. He has another week under his belt and I see him having a really good game against KU, while Oklahoma State’s defense might pitch a shut out. If nothing else, it’s enough to cover.

The Pick: Oklahoma State -21 (buy the .5)

Kansas State vs. Texas Tech

The biggest fear I have is a hangover for Kansas State following last week’s win over Oklahoma. But not enough to still feel good about the Wildcats. That’s because Tech may still be hungover from it’s blow loss to Texas last week when they were up by 15 points with three minutes left and lost. And it was to the one team they want desperately to beat every week. K-State has a good secondary that will show up against Tech’s strong wide receivers, but the Wildcats will have no trouble scoring points themselves and emotionally are in a better spot.

The Pick: Kansas State 2.5

Iowa State vs. Oklahoma

I’d feel better about my pick if OU wasn’t coming off a loss. This is a program that hasn’t lost back-to-back Big 12 games since 1998. But as we wrote this week, something has to give. OU doesn’t lose back-to-back Big 12 games and Iowa State is 10-1 in October the last three seasons. Iowa State has an awesome defensive line that could give fits to redshirt freshman QB Spencer Rattler, who looked shaky at times down the stretch last week when the Sooners were losing control against K-State. Meantime, OU continues to struggle with turning the ball over (losing that battle 4-0 last week), plus I see OU’s defense having a hard time against the Iowa State tight end duo of Charlie Kolar and Chase Allen. I’m going to go with the Cyclones to cover.

The Pick: Iowa State +7
