Las Vegas Sports Betting Board

The Big 12 football season is here, which means it’s time for our BIG 12 football picks against the spread. Our picks went 2-0 against the spread last week, and we are still 21-15 on the season, so let’s go!

Iowa State vs. Kansas State

Farmageddon, baby. It’s become one of the better rivalries in the Big 12 with nine of the last 12 meetings decided by a touchdown or less. Iowa State is the better team and is healthier, as K-State has had to slow down due to COVID-19 concerns. But K-State has been a thorn in Matt Campbell’s side, as he’s 1-3 against the Wildcats. Plus, as talented as Iowa State is, they haven’t really put together a strong string of games yet this season. Heck they were down two touchdowns to Baylor at home before scoring 28 unanswered to win two weeks ago. The Cyclones are at the top of the standings, but rank 6th in Big 12 offensive efficiency and are 8th in defensive efficiency. K-State ranks 5th on both sides of the ball. The Wildcats are also 5-1 against the spread in their last six games, while Iowa State is 3-8 in their last 11 games against the spread. I’ll take K-State to cover.

The Pick: Kansas State +11

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State

Who doesn’t love Bedlam? Well, maybe Mike Gundy, who’s 2-13 against the Sooners in his career. Unfortunately he gets an OU team that is playing its best football of the season and is as healthy as its been all year. OU is 4-0 against the spread the last month of the season, while Oklahoma State is 0-2 in their last two and 3-3 against the spread in their last six games. This game will be decided based on who can best stop the run and force the other team to the air. By the way, if you’re wondering, yes that’s unusual for a Bedlam game, but it’s 2020. And that match up benefits Oklahoma. The Sooners have been great on the defensive line since Ronnie Perkins returned and Oklahoma State’s offensive line has been incredibly shaky. OSU’s defensive strength has actually been in its passing defense, while the rushing defense is middle-of-the-pack in the Big 12. Mike Gundy’s Bedlam history with the trajectory these two teams are on leads me to an Oklahoma cover.

The Pick: Oklahoma -7
