Colorado’s Sanders, Hunter in PFF’s Way-Too-Early 2025 NFL Mock Draft
With the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft approaching and college football still months away, it is never too early to consider what the 2025 NFL Draft could look like next April.
PFF Football put together its “Way-Too-Early 2025 NFL Mock Draft,” and both Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter are projected to go within the top 12 picks.
Sanders is slated to go No. 9 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, whereas Hunter is predicted to go just behind him at No. 12 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Obviously, a lot can change from now to next April, but Sanders and Hunter each put the college football world on notice despite the Buffaloes’ disappointing 4-8 record in 2023.
The dual-threat quarterback finished the season with 3,230 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns while only throwing four interceptions. Although Colorado had one of the worst offensive lines in the country, he still ran for four rushing touchdowns.
The Las Vegas Raiders did not select a quarterback in this year’s draft, so with Aidan O’ Connell and Gardner Minshew on the roster, it is definitely possible that the front office elected to wait another year for its franchise quarterback.
It is likely that Hunter goes earlier than pick No. 12 due to his versatility on the field and ability to play both offense and defense. Even though an injury sidelined Hunter for three games last season, he still managed to rack in 721 receiving yards and pick off an opponent three times.
With star wide receiver Mike Evans getting up there in age, Tampa Bay could very well be looking for its next star offensive weapon of the future. The Buccaneers ranked 29th in passing defense last season, so adding Hunter’s defensive abilities could help the defense improve.
Hunter and Sanders are both projected by ESPN to be in the running for the Heisman award next season, so with both talents projected to go in the first round, expectations are very high for Colorado Football.
