Brandon Schneider and the Kansas Jayhawks Women’s Basketball Team made a seismic addition on Monday afternoon with the commitment of four-star guard Libby Fandel.

Fandel, a 6-foot-1 guard from Iowa, is a massive addition to Kansas’ roster and is one of the top-ranked recruits in program history.

Coming out of Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the talented guard is listed as a four-star prospect by ESPN and earned a 95 overall grade as the nation’s 41st-ranked prospect. She also played for All-Iowa Attack, the same club team known for producing WNBA star Caitlin Clark.

An impressive player in her class, Fandel chose the Jayhawks over offers from Creighton, TCU, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, and more. Fandel earned First-Team All-State honors as a junior, averaging 24.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.

ESPN’s Shane Laflin spoke on the Iowa native in a recent ratings update story, saying, “Fandel has always shown a knack for understanding the flow of the game and making fundamental plays. She has become more assertive and provides a lot of value to a loaded All-Iowa club team. At the last EYBL stop, she shot 47.6% from 3 and 87.5% from the free throw line. She has a positive assist/turnover ratio as well and contributes nearly five rebounds a game. As a 6-foot guard/wing, she also plays volleyball, so the promise of potential if she becomes a full-time basketball player is solid.”

While Fandel won’t take the court in Lawrence until the 2025-26 season, she is a massive addition for Brandon Schneider’s staff.
