Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears added a new name to the Class of 2025 on Tuesday with the commitment of 2025 three-star linebacker Kaleb Burns.
Burns, a 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker from Houston, Texas, has been committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders since July 1st but will now head to Waco instead of Lubbock.
Coming out of Cy Falls High School in the Class of 2025, Burns is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 529th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the 54th-ranked player at his position and the 78th-ranked player in the state of Texas.
Rumors of Burns’ consideration to flip programs stemmed from two reports on Sunday from multiple 247Sports experts. The two predictions on Burns came from Bears Illustrated’s Will Turboff and Sooners Illustrated’s Collin Kennedy, in favor of Baylor landing the Texas native.
As a junior in 2023, Burns posted some impressive numbers for Cy Falls. He recorded 73 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one interception.
With his commitment, Burns became the Bears’ 19th addition to the Class of 2025, joining a cast of five different four-star prospects and 14 fellow three-stars.
Burns and the rest of the future Bears will have a chance to watch their team take the field for the first time in 2024 on Saturday, August 31st, against the Tarleton State Texans.
