The No. 3 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, Darryan Peterson, has narrowed his list of schools to eight, including Kansas, Arizona State, and Kansas State, per Joe Tipton.
Along with those Big 12 programs, the shooting guard is considering Kentucky, Louisville, Washington, Ohio State, and USC.
Peterson is ranked as the top Class of 2025 shooting guard, and Tipton reports that he plans to visit Kansas State in August after already taking official visits to Kansas and Kentucky.
Peterson is expected to reveal his college decision by November after visiting each Power Five program officially.
In regards to his relationship with the Jayhawks, Peterson told On3’s Jamie Shaw, “I knew a lot about Kansas coming into the visit. I’ve been a fan of Kansas for a long time, so I knew everything about the program. Being able to talk to Coach Self was cool. I’ve never been able to talk with him face-to-face like that.”
“He’s a cool guy and a great coach,” Peterson added. “The biggest thing about the facilities for me was they have a gym inside of where they live. I would be able to get into that whenever I need to.”
KU is coming off a 23-11 record in 2023-24, with its season ending in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in a loss to Gonzaga. The team returns several key players from last season’s squad, including Hunter Dickinson, K.J. Adams Jr., and Dajuan Harris Jr.
