Look: FSU Fans Are Convinced Oklahoma Softball is Cheating
Oklahoma and Florida State have become regular postseason opponents over the last few years, and typically, it’s been deep into the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners and Seminoles have played 20 times, with OU leading the all-time series, 12-8.
Recent history has been all about Oklahoma, though, as they’ve won each of the last six matchups, including Thursday night’s 11-3 run-rule victory in the Norman Super Regional.
Florida State’s softball program doesn’t take a backseat to many, so this lopsided series clearly has fans feeling like there’s got to be more than another team just simply being better.
In fact, it’s clear that Florida State fans aren’t buying what Oklahoma is selling. As the Sooners handed FSU its first loss of the postseason, Seminole fans took to the message boards to explain why their squad was getting dominated.
Message Board Geniuses found more than a couple of examples of FSU fans who are convinced OU softball is either playing dudes or they’re juiced up on steroids.
It couldn’t possibly be that Patty Gasso—who has now won over 1,500 games at OU—has built a sustainable program that has been winning at the highest level for years now.
You can’t really blame them for wondering, though, after OU blasted four home runs in an 11-hit game that also lacked a single Sooner batter who was struck out.
FSU’s season is on the line now, as one more loss will end their year and send Oklahoma to Oklahoma City.
Game 2 of their best-of-three series is set for Friday night at 7:00 p.m. CT (ESPN2), and another win for the Sooners will send them to their eighth straight Women’s College World Series.
