2024 Three-Star Forward Jamie Vinson Signs with Texas

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament First Round-Texas vs Colorado State

After Vanderbilt parted ways with Former Head Coach Jerry Stackhouse, three-star signee Jamie Vinson reopened his recruitment after decommitting from the Commodores.

Vinson transferred to the University of Texas over Kentucky, Rutgers, and South Carolina, per On3.

The Austin, Texas native played his high school career for Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, and On3 ranked the 6-foot-9 forward as the No. 206 overall prospect in the Class of 2024.

 

Texas is set to compete in its first season in the SEC, after leaving the Big 12 Conference.

Head Coach Rodney Terry has been very active in the transfer portal this offseason, securing the commitments from Julian Larry and Jayson Kent (Indiana State), as well as Jordan Pope (Oregon State), Malik Presley (Vanderbilt), and Tramon Mark (Arkansas).

Kadin Shedrick (7.7 PPG), Chendall Weaver (6.2 PPG),Ze’Rik Onyema (3.3 PPG), and Devon Pryor (0.7 PPG) are all set to return to the floor next season.

The Longhorns also bring in the No. 5 overall prospect in the Class of 2024, Tre Johnson, along with power forward Nic Codie, the No. 60 ranked player.

Last season, UT finished with a 21-13 record and made the NCAA Tournament before losing to Tennessee in the Round of 32.
