Following the news of Oklahoma State canceling Sunday’s game against Texas Tech, Skip Johnson and the Oklahoma Sooners have officially earned the title of the Big 12 Baseball regular-season champions for the 2024 season.

The Sooners currently hold a three-game lead over the second-place Cowboys, with an impressive 21-6 record in conference play.

The 2024 Big 12 title is Oklahoma’s first regular season baseball title since 1995 in the Big Eight Conference. Oklahoma has yet to lose in the month of May, recording six straight wins in back-to-back series sweeps against Texas Tech and Baylor.

The team’s six conference losses came against teams ranked in the top four spots in the conference, losing a pair of games to Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Texas.

According to the Lubbock Avalance-Journal’s Don Williams, the cancelation of the Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State game clinches a Big 12 tournament berth for the Red Raiders. They are awarded the No. 10 seed for the tournament and will take the field on Tuesday, May 21st, at 7:30 p.m. CT in Arlington.

The cancelation cemented the Sooners as Big 12 Champions for the 2024 season, which is the first title for Oklahoma Baseball in Big 12 history. OU will take the field on May 22nd as the No. 1 seed in the 2024 Big 12 Baseball Tournament in Arlington.
