In a recent interview with Heartland College Sports’ Pete Mundo, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown raved about the future of the Big 12 Conference.
Brown mentioned that while the Big 12 still has some work to do to become the nation’s best college football conference, he believes that the league is the “most exciting conference in America.”
“We’re across four time zones, and I think that was a vision of the Commissioner,” Brown said. “I get it, and it makes a lot of sense. I think we’re the most exciting conference in the country. We’ve got a little bit of ground to make up to be the best football conference in the country, but I definitely think we’re the most exciting.”
Brown’s words were echoed by that of 247Sports’ Josh Pate, who has dubbed the Big 12 as “America’s Conference” due to the competitive nature that Brown described.
“If you look at it from a depth standpoint and a competitive balance standpoint, the Big 12 is number one. One through sixteen there are quality teams, there are teams that have had recent success all the way through, and so it’s highly competitive.”
West Virginia is one of many teams entering the 2024 season with Big 12 Championship aspirations. Brown’s group will have a shot to live up to their expectations when the season kicks off in just three months on Saturday, August 31st, against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
