In a recent list from 247Sports’ Isaac Trotter, several members of the Big 12 Conference received some love for their new home in college basketball.
Multiple league members were represented on the list, including athletes from West Virginia, Kansas State, Houston, Baylor, Kansas, Cincinnati, Arizona, TCU, Iowa State, and Texas Tech.
Trotter broke down his list into 10 different position groups, including initiator point guard, combo guard, shooting guard, true wing, scorer/creator, off-ball wing/four, wing handler, stretch four, small-ball big, and true five.
West Virginia’s Jevon Small, Kansas State’s Dug McDaniel, and Houston’s Milos Uzan were listed under the initiator point guard position, with Small at No. 2, McDaniel at No. 3, and Uzan as No. 5.
The lone league member mentioned on the combo guard group was Baylor’s Jeremy Roach, who earned the No. 1 spot after transferring from Duke this offseason.
Kansas’ Rylan Griffen and Cincinnati’s Conor Hickman earned placements under the shooting guard designation, with Griffen listed at No. 3 and Hickman as an honorable mention.
Three more representatives were mentioned among the nation’s best true wings, including West Virginia’s Tucker DeVries at No. 1, Kansas’ AJ Storr at No. 2, and Arizona’s Anthony Dell’Orso as an honorable mention.
Scorer/creator was one of the few spots on Trotter’s list that did not feature a single member of the Big 12 Conference, but Cincinnati’s Dillon Mitchell showed up next under the off-ball wing/four designation, checking in at No. 5.
UCF Wilmington transfer Trazarien White earned some praise for the TCU Horned Frogs, checking in as the second-ranked wing handler on the list.
Coleman Hawkins headlined the stretch four category after transferring from Illinois to Kansas State and was joined on the list by Iowa State’s Joshua Jefferson, who transferred to Ames from Saint Mary’s.
Two big names rounded out the Trotter’s list, with Baylor’s Norchad Omier and Texas Tech’s JT Toppin both earning placements under the small-ball big category. Omier was listed as the second-ranked player in the group, followed by Toppin at No. 4.
While each member featured on the list will still have to adjust to life in a new conference, the additions made this offseason continued the separation of the Big 12 Conference as the best college basketball league in the country.
