Oklahoma, Texas’ First SEC Schedules to be Revealed on Dec. 13
Oklahoma and Texas have finished their final regular season as members of the Big 12 Conference and following the 2023-24 bowl season, the Sooners and Longhorns will officially begin their transition into the Southeastern Conference.
Two of Oklahoma’s games on the 2024 schedule were revealed earlier this week with Tennessee serving as the Sooners’ first game in SEC play on September 21 and what will likely be their last home game of the year against Alabama on November 23.
Meanwhile, Texas has learned the date of three games on its 2024 slate with Georgia traveling to Austin on October 19, the Longhorns traveling to Arkansas on November 16, and then playing their final game of the year at Texas A&M on November 30.
With both OU and Texas knowing when about half of their games are set to be played, the remaining half will remain a mystery, but not for long. The SEC announced on Thursday that the full 2024 SEC schedule is set to be released on December 13 at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN and the SEC Network.
Transitioning into the best football conference in America is a daunting task, but appears to be something that both OU and UT are fully capable of. Texas went into Tuscaloosa and beat the Crimson Tide earlier this season, 34-24. The Sooners then beat the Longhorns a few weeks later in the Red River Rivalry, 34-30.
Oklahoma’s first-ever SEC slate will have the Sooners travel to Auburn, LSU, Missouri, and Ole Miss while hosting Tennessee, South Carolina, and Alabama in Norman. The Sooners’ nonconference opponents will all come to Norman, with Temple, Houston, Tulane, and Maine all on the docket.
Meanwhile, Texas will play for SEC opponents at home with Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, and Mississippi State all traveling to Austin, while the Longhorns will hit the road to Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt in Year 1. The Longhorns also play three nonconference games at home against Colorado State, UTSA, and Louisiana Monroe, and have a huge non-con matchup in Ann Arbor against Michigan on Sat, September 7.
